What is the Dakar?
The Dakar is a rally-raid: a long-distance stage race combining navigation, driving and endurance. First held in 1979, it takes its name from the Senegalese city that shaped its history.
What is the difference between a liaison and a special?
A liaison connects the start or bivouac using public roads and normal traffic rules. A special is the timed competitive section. Distances in our table refer to special stages.
Where can I find official results and tracking?
The organiser publishes results, start lists and tracking tools on Dakar.com. DAKAR.MA provides context and explanations; it does not simulate live results.
Is the 2027 schedule final?
The announced dates remain subject to FIA approval. Routes, timings and access conditions can change. Always check organiser information before planning a visit.
